WORKSHEETS/SURVEY FORMS

The group asked that Dan Latham, with Coosa Valley RDC, to explain how to complete the forms.

HISTORIC DISTRICT RESEARCH

HPC and Design Committee members said they will continue taking photos of their assigned areas and gathering information.  Some members submitted the information they had to date.

CHATTOOGA ACADEMY PHASE 2 UPDATE

Ms. Edgemon said the city is advertising for bids to upgrade utilities and to install HVAC in the academy, and she applied for a Tourism Product Development grant in May for money to do interior finish work.  The group discussed the type of finish to be used on the floor downstairs and suggested a durable finish that will hold up with foot track at the museum, but one with a matte finish that would like more like what the original floor would have had.

CHATTOOGA ACADEMY ADVISORY BOARD

The group discussed possible candidates to serve on the academy rehab advisory board.  HPC Chairman Forester and Design Committee member Boyle confirmed their willingness to serve.

HPC, COMMITTEE AND STAFF REPORTS

Ms. Edgemon said no one applied for a DDA façade grant; she will propose that the DDA consider reallocating the façade improvements to create a painted mural of Fort Cumming on the wall of Fire Department’s metal building by Joe Stock Memorial Park.

Design Committee member Boyle announced the Friends of the Marsh House will have an invited tour on Sunday, June 15, from 1-2:30 p.m.  It will include a tea, family news from the 1880s and a tour of the house -- done like a re-enactment from that time.  The Walker County Historical Society will have a secret tour of historic homes on Sunday, June 22, starting at the library at 2:30 p.m.

HPC Chairman Forester adjourned the meeting at 6:30 p.m. to watch the historic LaFayette video.
