The Codes Enforcement & Engineering Department is responsible for enforcing building codes and issuing building permits within LaFayette.  The department's team of inspectors strives to ensure adherence with the codes and standards of the International Building Code as they are adopted by the State of Georgia.

The Codes Enforcement Department also enforces compliance with the code of ordinances of the City Of LaFayette, which includes zoning restrictions, storage of junk motor vehicles, condemnations, etc., as they apply to residential, commercial and industrial districts.
