Phone Scams

The LaFayette Police Department would like to make all citizens aware of phone scams in the North Georgia area.  If someone calls wanting money for an organization and you're not sure it's legit, please contact your local authorities to confirm the organization.  It's easier to confirm local organizations, if you decide to give to charities in your area.  We have had several calls of people calling the elderly wanting them to send large amounts of money, to claim a prize.  PLEASE BE AWARE.
