The City of LaFayette Electric Department provides
electrical service to residential, commercial and
industrial customers inside the city limits and into
portions of Walker County. The department
maintains 95 miles of distribution line serving
approximately 3,900 meters.
The LaFayette Electric Department is one of 49 city
owned power systems that receives its power from the
Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia(MEAG).
Thru this partnership the city is able to offer
competitive rates to all customers regardless of size of
power needs. The department also maintains an
active membership with Electric Cities of Georgia(ECG).
ECG offers a wide range of services to municipal owned
utilities including, safety training, engineering and
analytical services.
The staff at LaFayette Electric are dedicated to
improving service to customers thru routine maintenance,
system upgrades and customer education programs.
