LaFayette's electrical system provides electricity services to residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout the city and into portions of Walker County.

LaFayette receives its power from the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG POWER). Through this association the department has full access to the Georgia Integrated Transmission System that serves customers throughout the state.

LaFayette Electric Department's goal is to provide the best service at the most economic rate possible to its customers. The department's nine full-time employees maintain 95 miles of distribution power lines.
