LaFayette
Golf Course is on the south side of the city on U.S. 27, just north
of the bypass.
The
original nine holes were built in the 1930s. An additional
10 holes were constructed in 1992 and were designed by Arthur Davis.
Golf
course clubhouse
The
par 72 course features bent grass greens and hybrid bermuda grass
fairways and rough. Four sets of tees allow players of all
abilities to enjoy its wonderful layout. There are many challenging
holes to test players' skill as they play one of North Georgia's
most beautiful courses.
Autumn
is one of the most beautiful times as the course is surrounded by
mountains displaying their fall foliage.
The
course is a true challenge of golf. The front, or "original,"
side is relatively short but requires accuracy both off the tee
and in the approach shot into small greens. A few bunkers
are strategically placed on just a few holes.
The
back, or "new," side is longer, but grass bunkers, mounds
and out-of-bounds place a premium on club selection and strategy.
The
course has a grill, serving breakfast and lunch, and a pro shop
to fill golfers' needs and to take reservations.
The
pro shop can be contacted at (706) 639-1580 from 7:30 a.m. until
dark Tuesday through Sunday and from 11:30 a.m. until dark on Mondays.
Greens
fees are $8.50 for nine holes weekdays if walking and $13.50 for greens fee and golf cart. Green fees for 18 holes weekdays are $17 or $27 for greens fees and golf cart.
On
weekends and holidays, greens fees for nine holes are $12.50 if walking and $17.50 for greens fees and golf cart. For 18 holes on weekends, greens fees are $25 if walking and $35 for greens fees and golf cart.
Walking
is allowed everyday except 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
Special discounts are available at different times of the year. Call in advance for specials and tee times.
