LaFayette
Georgia’s
Department of Public Safety combines the Fire and Police departments
under the leadership of Director Tommy Freeman and Assistant
Director Bengie Clift.
The Police
Department is divided into Administrative, Investigative, and Patrol
divisions.
The
Administrative Division consists of Accreditation Manager Lieutenant
Jason Steadman, Receptionist/Clerk Joan Goodman and Court Clerk
Jan Bridges. Lieutenant Steadman also serves as the Departmental
Training Coordinator and Internal Affairs Investigator.
The Investigative
Division is commanded by Detective Sergeant Stacey Meeks and consists of
Detective Sergeant Darin Kelley and Lookout
Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force Agent, Detective Corporal
Pat Doyle. School Resource Officer, Corporal Billy
Mullis is assigned to
LaFayette
High School.
Corporal Mullis conducts crime prevention seminars when school is not
in session.

The Patrol Division is commanded by
Lieutenant Randy Hicks and Lieutenant Robert Dunn. Serving as shift
commanders are Sergeant John Scoggins, Sergeant Wesley Steele,
Sergeant Robert Tate, and Sergeant Jennifer Shackleford.
Corporal Stacy
Blalock, Corporal Tom Kendrick, Corporal Denny
Reyes,
Corporal Chris
Reynolds, Officer Nicholas Terry, Officer Dustin Clift, Zachary
Simpson and Brock Campbell are
responsible for enforcing all federal and state laws as well as
local ordinances. The Patrol Division has 14 fully-equipped,
marked patrol units with all emergency equipment, including in-car
video systems and dual antenna radar units. Corporal
Blalock also oversees the department's K-9 unit.
The LaFayette
Fire Department is made up of full-time and volunteer members. The
city has a Class 6 rating.
The Fire
Department has a 1000-gallon pumper, a 750-gallon pumper, a
500-gallon pumper and a ladder/pumper truck.
The department's
full-time Firefighters are Capt. Robert Busby, Lieutenant Billy
Narmore, Lieutenant Robert Dennison,
Lieutenant Johnny Stephens, Jr. and Robert Rice. Lieutenant
Narmore serves as the Fire Departments
Training Coordinator.
