Superintendent Richard W. Moore

The LaFayette Public Works Department consists of four operations: streets and rights-of-way, solid waste, cemetery and city-wide vehicle maintenance.

The street department is responsible for all maintenance of city streets, including drainage, street sweeping, sidewalk repair and improvement, asphalt paving and patching, roadside mowing and sign maintenance.

City crews pick up trash at residences. The solid waste department is responsible for the collection of residential and commercial garbage two times per week, including yard trimmings and leaf pickup from November thru February.  This department has a manned voluntary drop-off recycling program on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the Public Works building on Napier Street.

LaFayette Cemetery is a municipally owned facility on 28 gently-rolling, tree-filled acres with an additional 12 acres soon to be developed.   Several roads within the cemetery are paved for easy access to grave sites.  The city contracts the weekly maintenance to insure the facility is maintained properly.  Click here to review the cemetery fee schedule.

The vehicle maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the city's equipment, including lawn mowing equipment, automobiles, light to medium trucks and heavy equipment. Solid Waste Department crews grind brush and leaves into mulch for use at city facilities.
